City of Boston Releases RFQ for Design of New Municipal Office
Facility
The City of Boston has released a Request for Qualifications for
the design of a new 21st-century municipal office facility to
be located in the heart of Dudley Square in Roxbury. The new office
facility will anchor the historic square and bring new life and
vitality to its neighborhood, with approximately 800 city workers
going to the district every day. The historic façade of the
Ferdinand building will be incorporated into the new municipal
office facility. The RFQ can be mailed, downloaded, or picked up in

Neuroscience and Courthouse Design Workshop:
Understanding Cognitive Processes in the Courthouse

The Academy of Neuroscience of Architecture was created with the
mission to research links between neuroscience and “human
responses to the built environment.” As Dr. Fred Gage stated
in his Lecture on Neuroscience and Architecture, “the places
we live, work and play are changing our brains and our behavior all
the time.” Neuroscience research has determined that the brain
controls behavior, genes control the brain’s “design and
structure,” and the environment impacts gene’s function.
