Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK) is a global provider of design and project delivery services with a network of offices in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Among the world’s leading design firms, HOK manages the planning, design, and construction process for all types of clients and facilities in every part of the world.

Their success comes at least in part from their adoption of integrated practice. Using examples from his work, like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) building in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Saint Bartholomew’s Teaching Hospital in London, Mr. MacLeamy describes an integrated practice necessary for successful completion of such large-scale and complicated projects. By incorporating interested parties throughout the design process, HOK’s approach is changing the relationship between owners, architects, and contractors.
